ILOILO 5th district Rep. Raul “Boboy” Tupas said he has no plans to transfer to administration party PDP-Laban, for now.
Rep. Tupas said he will remain with the Nacionalista Party which forged an alliance with PDP-Laban.
“Wala man sang mga movements. For now wala ako sang plano,” he said.
His fellow Ilonggo lawmakers and former Liberal Party members Rep. Jerry Treñas of Iloilo City and Rep. Arthur Defensor Jr. already jumped to PDP-Laban.
“Ti kay indi man ako halin sa Liberal Party. Basta ako ara ako sa Nacionalista,” he added.
During his visit to Iloilo province to administer the oath-taking of all third district officials on Jan 18, 2018, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez mentioned that Rep. Tupas is interested to join PDP-Laban but he was being convinced by NP to stay.
“Yun po siguro mga congressmen ninyo palagay ko malapit na rin. Kasi yung isa nagpaalam na sa akin mag-oath kaya lang pinigilan nung partido. Pero tingin ko naman di na rin magtatagal so inaanyayahan ko kayo kasama na rin ang inyong congressmen,” Alvarez said in his speech.
Rep. Tupas said he does not see any need to switch parties for now since NP is also an ally of PDP-Laban.
“Nangabay ang lideres sang partido nga ara man kami sa coalition with PDP-Laban kag pareho man nga ga-support sa administration and also a member of the super majority at the House of Representatives,” he said.
“Budlay magnagay sabat. Mahuya kita karon kay basi may expectations ang isa kag isa,” he added.
As to the presence of fifth district mayors during the oath-taking, Rep. Tupas clarified that they only attended the event as witnesses.
