THE Iloilo Provincial Jail Female Dormitory in Barangay Nanga, Pototan will allot extra visiting hours on January 1-2, 2019 to allow Persons Deprived with Liberty (PDL) to spend the New Year with their families.
Jail Inspector Imee Soldevilla of the Iloilo District Jail Female Dormitory said they will open the visitation hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on January 1 (Tuesday) and January 2 (Wednesday).
Visitation hours in normal days is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and resumes at 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m..
“Tagaan namon sila subong nga wala break para maka-lunch sila upod sang ila pamilya,” Soldevilla said.
She reminded the visitors to refrain from bringing contraband and other banned items like cellular phones, weapons, and illegal drugs.
Some PDLs, however, seldom have visitors for their families live from far provinces like Capiz, Bacolod, and even Masbate.
PDLs are allowed to contact their loved ones during the “call time” from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
“May jail officer nga ga-facilitate. Ginamonitor kon sino tawgan, ano ang ginaistoryahan,” she said.
Currently, the Iloilo Provincial Jail Female Dormitory holds 154 PDLs- 92 percent of which has drug-related cases.
The Bureau of Jail Mangement and Penology (BJMP) allocated 33-million budget for the construction of a new facility that will loosen the Iloilo Female Dormitory.
Soldevilla said the project engineer already conducted ocular inspection.
“Himuon nga fourth floor atleast, hatagan sang space nga the will able to feel nga normal lang, daw panimalay lang guid nila,” she said.
