THE Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) proposed that more provincial jeepneys be allowed to enter the city every Monday morning.
City Councilor R Leone Gerochi, chairperson of the committee on transportation, said he supports the proposal made by PSTMO head Jeck Conlu in order to address the shortage of city loop jeepneys.
He said that instead of issuing additional franchises, jeepneys with the existing franchise should be allowed to enter the city boundary.
“Akon I was really against nga magdugang franchise but rather those with an existing franchise nga ara na da ti sulod ka na lang sa city kay ginakulang man bala. If we allow them nga mag-derecho at least indi na sila mag-stuck didto sa may terminal,” he said.
Gerochi said he will also propose to Conlu to also allow entry of more provincial jeepneys every Friday.
The heavy influx of passengers is expected on Mondays during the first day of class and every Friday when people go home to their hometowns.
Under the existing Comprehensive Perimeter Boundary Ordinance, provincial jeepneys are only allowed to enter the city via a car pas system.
Gerochi said it is up to the PSTMO to decide on the matter as they are the ones on the ground who implement the law.
