ILOILO City Mayor Jose Espinosa III admitted that he personally funded the “Tito Mayor Joe III” mascot to aid in the city government’s campaign against illegal drugs.

“It’s my own personal expenses and gusto ko gid kay it is part of my personal commitment sa aton anti-drug campaign”, he said.

According to Espinosa, it was his idea to come up with a mascot to easily educate young students about the campaign.

“Si Tito Mayor Joe III siya na ang malibot sa eskwelahan, component na siya sa campaign nga “Utos ni Presidente, Utos ni Mayor: Say no to drugs,” he added.

He also assured that the city government’s relentless anti-drug campaign will continue.

“I will see to it nga ang program and ang anti drug campaign sige-sige kag we will go biskan sa eskwelahan para malambot gid naton ang grassroots pati mga kabataan,” he noted.

Just like the mayor’s signature attire, mascot wears a blue-collared shirt and eyeglasses. It has already participated in the different activities in the recently concluded 81st Iloilo City Charter Day Celebration.

Espinosa said that the mascot and the anti-illegal drugs campaign team are preparing to conduct lectures and activities on different high schools in the metro.
