A 33-year-old man remains at-large after killing his uncle late evening of March 11, 2019 in Janiuay, Iloilo.
Chief Inspector Dadje Delima, Janiuay police chief, said they learned of the incident 9 a.m. of Mar 12 since Barangay Atimonan, a hinterland village in Janiuay, could only be reached after a four-hour walk.
The victim, 54-year-old Armando Lastimoso, was declared dead in a hospital.
Suspect Noel Lastimoso, 33, also of Atimonan village, fled after shooting his uncle.
Noel’s mother and Armando are siblings
Prior to the incident, Armando and Noel went on separate drinking sprees. Later on, the victim went to the suspect’s house to borrow a bolo.
Armando allegedly planned to use the bolo to scrape tobacco bark. A misunderstanding ensued between the two that led to an argument.
The suspect then took out his 12-gauge shotgun and shot his uncle who was hit on the left side of his body and arm.
Delima said the suspect’s mother appeared at the police station and assured she will convince her son to surrender.
