A 43-YEAR-OLD man killed his neighbor in Banate, Iloilo morning of Sept. 8, 2018.
Wilson Belgira fled after shooting Juanito Agudio, 64, outside the latter’s house at Sitio Matingkong, Barangay Juanico.
Belgira remains at-large as of presstime.
Senior Insp. Genesis Roque, Banate police chief, reported that the fight started between Belgira’s wife, Lea Belgira, and Agudio’s daughter.
There were allegedly rumors going around that Belgira was romantically pursuing the victim’s married daughter.
On Friday, a confrontation reportedly occurred between Lea Belgira and Agudio’s daughter.
When the suspect learned of the fracas, he allegedly went to Agudio’s house at 6:30 a.m. to confront his daughter.
The suspect allegedly went ballistic that forced Agudio to go out of his house. Belgira then shot the elderly man on the abdomen.
Agudio was rushed to the hospital but he did not pull through.
Roque said they are still verifying reports citing that Lea confronted Agudio’s daughter because of jealousy.
“From what we gather, grudges triggered what happened,” he added.
While the manhunt against Belgira continues, the police will be filing a homicide case against him.
