TWO brothers who are both construction workers were stabbed by a fellow laborer late afternoon of Feb. 5, 2017 in Pavia, Iloilo.
John Dher Juabe, 28, and his younger brother, Bernardo Juabe, Jr., 27, both residents of Barangay Lisub A in Anini-y, Antique, suffered three stab wounds each after the incident.
But John Dher did not survive the attack after suffering fatal wounds on his neck, chest, and body.
Bernardo, on the other hand, survived wounds on his back, chest and abdomen.
Senior Inspector Rey Cordero, Pavia police chief, identified the suspect as a certain Russell Mosquera, a resident of Zone 2, Barangay Calaparam, Arevalo, Iloilo City.
He fled after the incident and remains at-large, as of this writing.
Police accounts said the Juabes and a certain Larry Baguna went to the house of their friend and fellow construction worker Larry Casabuena at Ungka II, Pavia.
There, they met Mosquera whom had a bad blood with the victims.
The Juabe brothers worked for CJB Construction, contractor of subdivision project in Pavia.
Mosquera is also a construction worker in the same subdivision.
The suspect and the victims are both cockfighting enthusiasts and were to check Casabuena’s game fowls when the incident happened.
It cannot be ascertained who started the commotion when the two camps began hurling threats against each other.
This prompted Casabuena to order the brothers and Mosquera to go home to avoid further fights.
The victims hurriedly left but Mosquera allegedly ran after them and began stabbing the two.
Baguna was not hurt after he scampered for safety.
The two victims were immediately rushed to Western Visayas Medical Center but John John Dher did not pull through.
Cordero said the manhunt operation against Mosquera is ongoing.
