Man hacked to death by two younger brothers

TWO brothers allegedly killed their older sibling evening of Sept 5, 2018 in San Joaquin, Iloilo.

Jose John Sandilantan, 44, succumbed to multiple stab injuries on his chest, back, neck, and arm.

Jose John’s younger brothers, Victor, 33, and Dalmacio, 24, admitted that they attacked their brother inside his house in Taslan village.

The two claimed that they were fed up with Jose John’s habit of provoking them every time he gets drunk.

Their mother confirmed the victim’s violent demeanor which caused them sleepless nights.

Senior Police Officer 1 Steve Francis Facto, San Joaquin police investigator, said that while the victim was reputed to be a “maoy” (drunkard) in their village, he was never arrested for any misdemeanor.

On the night of the incident, he again challenged his brothers to a fight. The two suspects did not give in and instead waited for the perfect timing.

They then stormed the victim’s house where Dalmacio immediately struck him with a piece of wood.

Jose John managed to retaliate but Victor grabbed a knife and a bolo then hacked the victim.

Responding police officers brought the victim to San Joaquin Mother and Child Hospital but was declared dead at 10:45 p.m.

The suspects are now detained while the family has yet to show intention to pursue possible criminal charges.
