Man commits suicide over money matters

ROXAS City, Capiz – A 72-year-old man committed suicide morning of Jan. 28, due to financial problems.

Richard Oliva of Sitio Luyo Brgy. Culasi here shot himself to death with a homemade 12-gauge shotgun.

Oliva was declared dead at Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital due to a severe wound in the head.

According to his daughter Josephine, Oliva fell into depression after his wife got hospitalized due to diabetes.

Josephine said her father was at a loss where to get the more than P60,000 for their hospital bills.


The victim was living with his six children and drove a passenger tricycle for his livelihood.
