Malasakit Center launched in Iloilo

SPECIAL Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher “Bong” Go officially launched on Wednesday, June 20, the Malasakit Center at Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City.

“Ang Malasakit Center ay isang one-stop shop intended to integrate the different assistance programs of various government agencies,” Go said.

The center is an initiative of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President (OSAP), in cooperation with the Department of Health (DOH), DOH-retained hospitals, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC) or PhilHealth, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV).

Go said the center is in response to a directive from President Rodrigo Duterte to provide a one-stop desk for poor Filipinos who need medical attention but have no capacity to pay.

The Malasakit Center also aims to expedite processes in availing of services relevant to health care, primarily for, but not limited to, financial assistance.

The pilot Malasakit Center is located at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for Region 7 while the second is situated at the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center in Tacloban City for Region 8. (PIA-Iloilo)
