Hotel gets bomb threat

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A hotel in Brgy. Banica here received a bomb threat morning of Dec 14, 2018.

Kapis Mansyon Hotel received the threat via email from a certain Jamaal Graver who used the email address

The sender informed the owner that bombs were planted inside the hotel premises and will explode if the owner does not deposit US$20,000 to his Bitcoin account.

The Roxas City police immediately responded to the threat and advised all workers to get outside. They inspected the hotel with help from the bomb squad’s K9 unit and the Bureau of Fire Protection but they did not find any suspicious item.

The police are still investigating the case to determine the motive and the identity of the sender.

The Bureau of Fire Protection-Roxas City Fire Station recently declared the hotel a fire hazard for failure to comply with certain requirements.

According to Fire Senior Inspector Stephen Jardeleza, Roxas City fire marshal, they have been sending notices to the hotel for year to inform the management of its deficiencies.

Among the hotel’s purported violations were failure to install sprinkler and alarm systems, exit and route signage, among others.
