Hot lumbers, quarry materials confiscated

ROXAS CITY, Capiz– Police here confiscated assorted lumber and two dump trucks loaded with quarry materials in separate operations on March 12, 2019.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-Capiz) seized the alleged hot lumber following surveillance operations on an alleged illegal logging operation at Brgy. San Esteban Pilar, Capiz.

The team then conducted a checkpoint and apprehended a truck loaded with more or less 140 pieces of lumber flitches.

But upon verification, truck driver Rodolfo de los Reyes Jr. failed to present pertinent papers for his cargo.

The lumber, including the driver and the truck, were turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, two dump trucks were confiscated in Brgy. Bolo here by police for transporting quarry materials without permits.

The operation was conducted by joint forces from the Mines and GeoScience Bureau (MGB) and the Task Force Aksyon Bantay Grabas of the Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CAPENRO).

It was later found out that the owner has no Governor’s Permit to legally operate quarry activities in Capiz.
