Lito Cervidad, 35, and daughter Jacquelyn Cervidad, 3, both of Barangay San Antonio, Oton, Iloilo were on their way home when their motorcycle skidded on a slippery part of the road at Barangay Tagbac Norte, Oton.

The two suffered minor injuries on different parts of their bodies.

On the other hand, two victims on a Toyota Fortuner going to Pototan, Iloilo were hurt following a head-on collision with a Honda Beat motorcycle which was heading to Leganes town.

The accident occurred at around 2:28 p.m. at Barangay Poblacion Ilaya, Zarraga, Iloilo.

The Toyota Fortuner on the northbound lane appeared to have overtaken another motorcycle before colliding with the Honda Beat on the southbound lane, said Senior Insp. Stanley Mendoza, Zarraga police chief said.

Motorcycle driver Allan Cabarles, 42, and back rider Rusty Salcedo, 38, both of Barangay Guihaman, Leganes, sustained injuries on different parts of their bodies.

Salcedo needs to undergo surgery due to a bone fracture on his left leg.

The victims were rushed to Iloilo Provincial Hospital at Rumbang, Pototan and were later transferred to the Western Visayas Medical Hospital in Mandurriao district.

Mendoza said that the helmets worn by Cabarles and Salcedo averted serious injuries on their part.

No case was filed against Toyota Fortuner’s driver, Philip Michael Labanes of Pototan, Iloilo, who assured to shoulder the victims’ medical expenses.

The Toyota Fortuner’s left head light, hood, and bumper were damaged while the Honda Beat’s front portion, including the side mirrors, were smashed.

Vehicular accidents have been occurring at the same area due to its curved orientation, Mendoza said.
