Five ‘drug peddlers’ fall

FIVE SUSPECTED drug pushers in the city and province of Iloilo were arrested in separate operations from Jan. 27 to 28, 2016.

In Dumangas, Iloilo Members of the Municipal Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group (MAIDSOTG) and Dumangas police arrested Robermar Nobleza, 40, of Tamboilan village, Dumangas.

Inspector Charlie Sustento, Dumangas PNP chief, said Nobleza was arrested after selling illegal drugs to a police poseur-buyer.

Authorities said they mounted the operation after weeks of surveillance on the suspect’s illegal activities.

Police recovered from Nobleza’s possession four big sachets of suspected shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Sustento said Nobleza is on their list of most wanted drug peddlers and has allegedly been running a drug den in the area.

The recoveries were brought to Dumangas PNP Crime Laboratory for examination while charges are being prepared against the suspect.

Nobleza is presently detained at the lock up cell of the Dumangas police station.

Meanwhile, the No. 1 suspected drug personality in Barotac Viejo town was also arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the newly created Special Operations Unit “Charlie” of the Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO).

Nabbed was Generey Demontaño, 31, of Sitio Ilawod in Poblacion, Barotac Viejo past 8 a.m. of Jan. 28.

Demontaño is a tricycle driver who allegedly sells drugs on the side.

Recovered from his possession were three sachets of suspected shabu P500 cash, a matchbox, and a pouch.

The third suspected pusher to fall is Erwin Campoy, 29, of Sta. Cruz village, San Miguel.

Campoy was arrested 11:30 a.m. Jan. 28 in a sting operation of the San Miguel PNP and Special Operations Unit (SOU) Alpha supervised by Police Chief Inspector Cyril Octavio.

Recovered from Campoy were eight sachets of suspected shabu, various drug paraphernalia, and the marked money.

In the neighboring town of Leon, Benjie Cangas, 29, of Panginman village was also collared by SOU Alpha and the Leon PNP during a buy-bust operation 4:10 p.m. of Jan. 27 on F. Cabarles Street, Leon.

Meanwhile, another suspected pusher was also nabbed in a separate buy-bust operation in City Proper, Iloilo City evening of Jan. 27.

The subject of the operation was Victor Matias 43, a resident of Villa Anita Subdivision Delgado Street City Proper, Iloilo City.


Recovered from his possession were two bricks (9×9 inches) of dried marijuana leaves, assorted drug paraphernalia, P300 marked money, and P800 cash.
