Families of hacking suspect, victims agree on settlement

ROXAS City, Capiz – The families of the four persons, including a 3-year-old-girl, who were hacked to death by their slain neighbor in Panay, Capiz, agreed on an amicable settlement on Aug 30, 2018.

The settlement was made before the chief of Panay Municipal Police Station.

The victims’ families said they will no longer file charges against the suspect, Nestor Beldia, who was also shot dead by responding police officers.

In return, Beldia’s family will help in the burial expenses of the victims.

Meanwhile, Beldia’s body now lies in state at a relative’s house in Dinginan village here, while the four victims are in the local chapel of Tanza Norte in Panay.

It may be recalled that Concepcion Celino, 70; her daughter Ramilyn Labto, 31; Ramilyn’s daughter, Gerra Isabelle; and Hanna Fel Aguiling, 3, all residents of Brgy. Tanza Norte, Panay town were hacked to death by the 60-years-old Beldia on Wednesday.

Cops shot Beldia to death when he tried to attack them, too.
