ROXAS City, Capiz – Members of the Roxas City Police Station arrested a former barangay tanod of Barangay Punta Tabuc here for alleged illegal drug peddling.
Danilo Castillo (also known as Dodoy Modlat), 63, was arrested after the police recovered 12 sachets of suspected shabu or crystal meth in his possession.
Supt. Dante Tayco, Roxas police chief, said they have been monitoring the activities of Castillo after some arrested “drug pushers” pointed to him as a dealer, too.
The arrest of Castillo would give policemen leads to other drug pushers, Tayco said.
Also recovered from the suspect were three cellular phones, five ammunitions of unknown caliber, a wallet, and several drug paraphernalia.
Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 19 Executive Judge Esperanza Poco-Deslate issued the search warrant.
Meanwhile, Castillo denied that he owned the recovered illegal drugs although he admitted that he was a former drug surrenderee of Barangay Punta Tabuc.
The suspect also accused the cops of stealing the P31,000 cash hidden under his bed.
Castillo is now detained at the Roxas City police station and will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
