Driver flees as bus plows Tree, nine passengers hurt

NINE passengers were injured when the bus they were riding rammed into a mahogany tree 8:30 a.m. of March 13, 2019.

The bus driver, Rodolfo Villar, reportedly wanted to evade a tricycle but lost control of the wheel and crashed into a mahogany tree at Barangay Colong-Colong, Ibajay, Aklan.

Villar and the unnamed bus conductor fled after the incident.

The injured passengers are Divine Elizabeth Runes, 15, and Paterna Runes, 62, both residents of Barangay Agbago, Ibajay; Joevilyn Solomon, 24, of Poblacion, Patnongon, Antique; Oliver Bogoy, 26, of Barangay Nauring, Pandan, Antique; and Zoren Felizardo, 28, of Barangay Santa Fe, Pandan, Antique.

Also wounded were Mark Nel Villar, 25, of Barangay Fe, Culasi, Antique; Joseph Patenio, 51, of Barangay Candari, Pandan, Antique; and Adelayda Saulong, 59, Gina Magalona, 47, of Batbatan Island, Culasi town.

The Ibajay police said they would coordinate with the bus company for the surrender of the driver.
