THE Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Iloilo City warned barangay officials against attending capability-building activities conducted by unaccredited groups and organizations.
The DILG said activities by these groups are not sanctioned by the government but are more of moneymaking schemes.
“We were informed nga daw naga-conflict sa programa sang DILG nga Barangay Newly Elected Officials (BNEO) Orientation Program kay may mga nagakadto sa barangay kag mag-conduct training sa barangay sa legislation and may money involved kay gapanukot sila registration,” said Atty.Ferdinand Panes, DILG-Iloilo City director.
According to Panes, even if the organization is legitimate, they need to wait for approval from the DILG Central Office before conducting their trainings.
“Ini nga organization, nag-coordinate na sa babaw indi lang sila ka hulat guidelines. Tanan nga activities nga ga-involve kwarta, may approval sa Central Office,” he explained.
Panes clarified that once the organization gets permission and authority from the Central Office, he will allow them to conduct trainings in barangays.
“Amo to bala natabo sa SK Mandatory Trainings nga may nag-ilentra ya nga kuno nga gapabayad ang LGU kag sa ila libre. Libre ila pero indi accredited. Only accredited institutions are allowed to conduct trainings,” he added.
He also urged barangay officials to prioritize their attendance to the BNEO Orientation Training and cautioned them against activities that require using barangay funds.
“Warn ko lang ang barangay, akon ya gina-proteksyunan ko lang ang barangay kay kung sige sila magpagwa kwarta karon kag abi nila nga daw legitimate man ang organization only to find out sa audit sang Commission on Audit (COA) pangitaan sila authority,” Panes said.
