Cop’s daughter hurt in shooting

A POLICE officer’s daughter was wounded in a drive-by shooting at Barangay Tubigan, Zarraga, Iloilo on August 16, 2018.

Police Officer 1 (PO1) Edwin Maprangala and his common-law wife wondered why their 15-year-old daughter Ann-Ann, who was preparing for school, has not come out of her room yet at around 8 a.m. Thursday.

When the wife checked the room, they saw Ann-Ann’s head bleeding.

Chief Inspector Stanley Mendoza, Zarraga police chief, said the couple thought the teenager fell off the bed and hit her head on the floor.

The victim was immediately rushed to the Metro Iloilo Hospital and Medical Center in Jaro Iloilo, City.

Physicians said Ann-Ann suffered a gunshot wound.

According to the father, they were unaware of the incident but they saw a bullet hole on their wall.

“We now weigh on the possibility that it could be a drive-by shooting,” Mendoza said.

The Maprangala’s house is less than 10 meters from the highway.

Recovered from the crime scene was an empty shell and live caliber .45 ammunition.

Maprangala was dismissed from service last month but he claims that he has recently reinstated.
