Abelardo Armelligas, 56, of Brgy. Lanot died hours after he was brought to the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital here.
Espidito Espinosa, 28, a resident of Brgy. Bato Panay, Capiz is accused of killing Armelligas
Roxas City police reports indicated that a misunderstanding triggered the incident.
Espinosa was driving his motorcycle loaded with 20 pieces of bamboo when it suffered mechanical trouble and caused traffic obstruction.
Armelligas got mad and a heated argument ensued between the two. He allegedly threatened to shoot Espinosa, prompting the latter to draw a steel rod and struck the victim in his head thrice.
Espinosa immediately fled.
The responding police officers proceeded to the house of Menandro Fuentes, 41, in Brgy. Bato and requested the latter to facilitate the suspect’s surrender.
Espinosa voluntarily surrendered at about 11:30 p.m. that same day.
Police recovered from the crime scene a 33-inch long steel rod.
