Close to 20,000 ride e-jeeps
ILOILO City’s e-jeepneys are fast becoming the vehicle of choice for pupils and senior citizens.
A report by Engr. Johnny Daniel, chief of the city’s Motor Pool Division, said almost 20,000 passengers availed of free rides on board the e-jeeps since March to July 1.
The report said no less than 2,000 pupils and their parents or guardians and elderly passengers, ride the e-jeeps every week. In just a span of about four months, the e-jeeps have already made 2,801 trips.
“The almost 20,000 availing of the e-jeep service have saved around P120,000 – given the discounted fare of P6 – in the four months the vehicles are in operation,” Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said.
The e-jeeps ply their designated routes around the City Proper area from 6am to 9am, and from 3pm to 6pm Monday to Friday. (Lucy Montealto-Sinay)
