Capiz cops on alert after Maasin raid

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Police here are also on alert after the New People’s Army raided the police station of Maasin, Iloilo last June 18, 2017.

Senior Supt. Samuel Nacion, Capiz police director, said he ordered all police stations here to be on their toes to avoid a repeat of the Maasin raid.

He said intelligence reports indicated that 15 more police stations in Western Visayas are also targets of the NPA.

The Maasin police station was filled with trepidation as armed men swiftly attacked the police station which is located near the public market.

The attack happened at around 10:45 a.m. of June 18, 2017.

The suspected rebels arrived on board an Elf truck and made a stop in front of the police station along Taft Street.

Overpowered, the nine Maasin cops did not offer resistance.

The rebels did not sweat it out in taking away riles, handguns, and radio communication sets.

They also allegedly carted away the policemen’s jewelry, four mobile phones, two laptops, and P29,000 cash.
