ROXAS City, Capiz – Barangay Olotayan here will finally have stable power supply starting July 7, 2018 after several months of delay.
Engr. Edgar Diaz, Capiz Electric Cooperative (Capelco) general manager, assured the residents of the island barangay that their dream would soon come true after the submarine cables from Agojo village in Panay have already been installed on the island.
The project, which cost P60 million, was initiated by the administration of former Pres. Benigno Aquino III under the Barangay Line Enhancement Program (BLEP) of the Department of Energy.
The ground\breaking ceremony of the electrification project was held on March 14, 2016, but it suffered delays in the installation of submarine cable due to procurement procedures.
The installation of the power supply is seen to boost the island barangay’s tourism and business potentials.
