A 10-YEAR-OLD boy died of apparent suicide afternoon of April 12, 2019 in Banate, Iloilo.
Because of the sensitivity of the incident, the local police declined to give out additional information on the boy’s identity, except that he was a Grade 4 pupil.
The boy used a nylon rope binder to hang his neck in their living room.
Police Captain Genesis Roque, Banate police chief, said the pupil’s elder sibling reported the incident around 2:55 p.m. Friday.
“When our policemen arrived, they already brought the body down,” he said.
The victim was officially declared dead at Barotac Viejo District Hospital.
Roque said the boy was left alone when the incident happened. His father was the one taking care of him while his mother works in Bicol.
Authorities did not find any suicide note but his family intimated that the boy might be having problems with the family.
He was also considered a child with special needs.
Roque said he urged the boy’s family to seek an autopsy on his remains.
