Bomb threat cancels school exams

A BOMB scare disrupted the examination day of the University of San Agustin’s (USA) extension campus at Sambag, Jaro, Iloilo City on August 9, 2018.

At around 8:45 a.m., Erwin Bendali-an of the USA administration office received a threat from a male caller saying “Mag-ingat po kayo, sir. May itinanim na bomba. Maraming mamamatay.”

Bendali-an immediately alarmed the school’s security personnel.

The threat was reported to the police at 9:05 am, said Senior Inspector Tranquilino Querubin, Jaro PNP chief.

The bomb squad cordoned the area and after more than two hours of searching, the declared the area clear and safe

Senior Inspector Querubin said a saboteur could be behind the hoax in order to derail the periodic examinations of grade and high school students.
