A BOMB threat at Lambunao National High School in Poblacion Ilawod, Lambunao, Iloilo caused the cancellation of classes on August 28, 2018.
At around 9:50 a.m., utility worker Robert Araneta found a paper bag containing a bomb replica inside the female comfort room.
The school alerted the police while students and staffers were told to stay away from the area.
At around 12:30 p.m., the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 bomb squad led by Senior Inspector Herdan Becalangco and a K-9 unit cordoned the area.
The package turned out to be a hoax bomb device made of cardboard tube filled with sand, tied with a wire, wrapped in electrical tape, with a fully wired circuit board and phone battery.
Although the bomb had complete wirings, Chief Inspector Jogen Suegay of Lambunao police explained that it will not explode because it lacked a blasting cap and contained sand instead of black powder.
The Explosive and Ordinance Division (EOD) declared the area safe at 1:25 p.m.
Police are now trying to identify the person behind the hoax bomb.
