A FURNITURE SHOP owner was shot dead in broad daylight on June 18, 2018, in Ajuy, Iloilo.
Acel Silva, 45, of Barangay Zerrudo, Sara town, died after two gunmen peppered him with bullets at around 9 a.m. Monday inside his shop at Barangay Tubogan, Ajuy.
Silva was measuring a piece of Gmelina lumber when two males approached and repeatedly shot him.
The victim was with his two helpers when the shooting happened, said Chief Inspector John Van Herson Luspo, Ajuy police chief.
“But they did not identify the suspects because they were wearing masks,” Luspo added.
Silva victim was rushed to Sara District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
He sustained six gunshot wounds on his back, right arm, and right thigh.
Recovered from the crime scene were fired cartridges of caliber .45 ammunition.
Luspo said they are still conducting a follow-up investigation to establish leads on the suspects and the motive.
“He could have been killed due to business but we are considering every angle,” he added.
Luspo said they are also gathering information if Silva received death threats prior to the incident.
