THE Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) reported on Sept 13, 2018 that it confiscated 925 illegal firearms under the intensified campaign against loose firearms or the “Tokhang Kontra Guinadumilian nga Pusil”.
Supt. Norby Escobar, APPO deputy director for operations, said they have gathered 447 unregistered firearms, most of which were “pugakhangs” or homemade guns, since the campaign was launched on July 23, 2018.
Escobar said 478 guns were surrendered to police stations.
The campaign helped reduce the proliferation of shooting incidents in the province, Escobar reported.
APPO aims to seize 3,061 illegal firearms within the year.
