ILOILO Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. said the province is “prepared” to give a P500,000 bounty for the arrest of suspected drug lord sErnesto “Erning” Bolivar.

Bolivar, who had been considered as Western Visayas’ top suspected drug personality, used to operate in Iloilo province.

“Ginreiterate ko nga the province of Iloilo is prepared to give a reward of P500, 000 for any information that will lead to the arrest of Bolivar of Pototan,” Defensor said.

Bolivar, 41, used to reside at Barangay Guinacas, Pototan.

He allegedly leads the Prevendido Drug Group, one of the major drug groups operating in the region, and also had dealings with the Odicta Drug Group.

The Odicta Drug Group used to be the top dog in the illegal drug trade until the death of its leader, Melvin Odicta Sr., and his wife Meriam in August 2016.

The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 placed Bolivar as the next target after the death of Richard Prevendido and son Jason during a drug raid at a subdivision in Barangay Balabago, Jaro district of Iloilo City, on September 2017.

Bolivar allegedly continued with his illegal drug trade operations even after he turned himself to the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) on July 2016.

Alex M. Tablate, officer-in-charge of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-6, said the agency and the Philippine National Police (PNP) continue to exert effort in hunting Bolivar.

“Continuously ina-acces natin kung saan ba talaga ang location ng subject person,” he said.

Tablate said they need human intelligence to catch Bolivar.

“He’s a familiar personality, at kung sa community makita ‘yun… maganda kapag ang community ay makakapag-tip sa mga authorities,” he said.
