DIOSPYROS Fuentes, 25, of Pavia, Iloilo, a Bachelor in Special Education graduate of West Visayas State University in 2012, is a dynamic teacher who educates and inspires young learners.
Presently, he teaches at Pavia Pilot Elementary School while serving as the 2018 President of Junior Chamber International Regatta and secretary of the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals – Molo.
His parents, Damaso and Lorraine who are both foresters, named after the scientific name of the kamagong tree, Diospyros Philipininsis.
Fuentes compares himself to the tree – tall, dark, and useful.
He finished his elementary education at Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus where he learned the value of serving the poor and the less-privileged through community outreaches and activities.
In 2004, he entered Iloilo National High School where he developed his leadership skills by leading the school’s theater group and by joining the Citizenship Advancement and Officership Training. Upon the advice of the school’s guidance counselor, he took the college aptitude test at West Visayas State University and passed.
As an educator, he considers his voice or communication skills as his most significant asset as he acts like a vessel which channels wisdom and knowledge to his learners.
Fuentes believes that he is yet undone with his mission and he still walks the journey of success.
“Success is not just a ladder to climb but a journey to walk through life, and your success will be more significant if you leave a mark and legacy to others to follow your footsteps.”
