SOFIA Carmen Ordoñez, 16, of Silay City, Negros Occidental, wins the admiration of adults and children because she instills the essence of Christmas in her heart.
She commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ by spending her time as a volunteer in Christmas activities affectionately held by the foundation Suntown Camp for children diagnosed with cancer and chronic illness.
She is currently a 10th grade student of St. Scholastica’s Academy in Bacolod City and aspires to become a Special Education teacher due to her moving experiences with the foundation.
Just like every year, her Christmas begins being with her Suntown Family.
“I get to give back. It may not be in the form of material things but in the form of love and joy,” she says.
Ordoñez wants the children to feel that they are not alone in their battle as they find happiness in each other’s company that makes up their shared cherished memories.
She is not an adult yet, but by her small acts, she has succeeded to help for the betterment of the world.
With kindness, she believes, one can make another happy and blessed.
“Share kindness to everyone. It will come back to you even without realizing it,” she concludes.
