Las Cigarreras and MACA showcase the creative samples of the Sinapsis Project
Alicante, May 22, 2023. The Alicante Museum of Contemporary Art and Las Cigarreras Cultural Space will open their doors to the public on the 31st to display the creative samples of the Sinapsis project. The program Sinapsis, Inclusive Dance and Performing Arts is an initiative of the Ruedapies Inclusive Dance Association, directed by Marisa Brugarolas with Alicia Esteve and Luis Martínez, and promoted by the Ministry of Culture of Alicante, Las Segareras and Maca, with the support of the Art for Change program of the “La Caixa” Foundation .
From January to June, comprehensive dance and performing arts workshops are held, where people without functional diversity share artistic space and experiences, dialogue with and be part of the culture. “As part of this creative process, we present a series of exhibitions open to the public in the same spaces where the workshops took place: traveling exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MACA) and theatrical exhibitions at the cultural space Las Cigarreras. Antonio Manresa, responsible for culture, noted.
“The samples are a compilation of the results that emerge in the creative process,” Manresa recalls. With all the material produced in the workshops, two unique performance works were created, arising from the creativity of the participants and the appreciation of their experience and expression through body and movement. This collective dialogue was created through The interdisciplinary language in which contemporary dance intervenes as expressive movement, gesture, visual arts and music.
In this interdisciplinary, inclusive, participatory creative activity, people of functional diversity were the creative agents, rather than mere producers of a particular culture, thus promoting social transformation that is empowering and lasting over time.
Sample dates are open to the public and free of charge
Samples can be enjoyed at Las Cigarreras Cultural Center on May 31 at 11:00 am and June 1 at 8:00 pm, and at MACA on June 9 at 11:30 am and June 10 at 6:00 pm:00h.
After the exhibition, a closing ceremony will take place at the Las Cigarreras Cultural Center, open to participating bodies, associations, workshop participants and the general public, where the process will be discussed and a video featuring the entire project will be shown. In addition to the active participation of the audience with the dynamics of participation.
