Held an online forum against the US blockade in Cuba – Prensa Latina

As reported by the agency, the virtual meeting aims to reveal how the US government’s trade and financial embargo on the Caribbean nation is the main obstacle to the country’s economic and social development.

The forum will last approximately one hour and 30 minutes, and will provide a space for representatives of the state sector and other forms of administration to exchange experiences in developing their activities and the impact of the blockade on them.

It will be posted via live broadcast in Spanish on MEP’s Facebook channel, and will be covered by the agency’s official Twitter account and YouTube channel.

Similarly, the Ministry on that day proposed the use on various platforms of the hashtags #EliminaElBloqueo, #VerdadesDelBloqueo, #alsoEsUnVirus and #NoMásBloqueo.

The meeting will take place in the context of renewed coercive measures taken by Washington against Havana.

Likewise, a few days before the submission of the report “The Need to End the Economic, Commercial and Financial Embargo imposed by the United States of America on Cuba” will be held at the United Nations General Assembly on 23 June.

According to a recent report by the international consortium set up by NGOs, Oxfam, the blockade is deepening the economic crisis and impeding access to suppliers of medicines, technologies, food and other essential products.

The report adds that the White House’s unilateral rulings also affect the daily lives of the most vulnerable, their families and livelihoods, impede capacity development and their own projects, as well as limit progress toward a more just and inclusive society.

According to the Cuban authorities, between April 2019 and March 2020, the American aggression on the island caused losses estimated at 5.570 million dollars, which is a record for a year, and the accumulated damages during six decades amounted to 144 thousand and 413 million dollars.
