On December 12, 19, 22, 2021, in the community of Brisa de Bravo, municipality of Corregidora, the organization Bravo por el Arte AC will carry out the ninth edition of the “Community Meeting of the Social Circus, Narices Rojas Rojas SOS”.
The meeting is the culmination of the annual work on the social intervention model of this civic association and seeks to be a space for interaction between families and people who have had to immigrate to the United States, as highlighted by Paula Mendes, cultural promoter, choreographer and dancer from Bravo by El Arte AC
“We are communities with a high rate of immigration to the United States, and in this meeting the main protagonists are the community; we are a tool that pushes people through art to express what they feel in different ways,” added the art promoter.
During the year, this community association offers courses and workshops in which circus techniques are used as an educational strategy for the development of girls, boys, adolescents, and parents. Likewise, it provides spaces to encourage reading and getting closer to cultural assets.
“Art is usually only associated with painting, sculpture and the like, when art is something that moves a lot,” said Paula Mendes.
Community Meet is a theater show “in which we primarily use multimedia elements such as music, videos, lighting and circus instruments,” said Bravo por El Arte AC promoter.
The Civic Society has facilities to implement circus techniques in an area of 300 square meters called “La Coppola”, where more than 100 students attend workshops during the year.
It is a space equipped with aerial exercise equipment and where reading workshops are also held and schools are organized for children at risk.
However, in this ninth edition of the Social Circus Meeting – due to the conditions of the COVID-19 epidemic and in order to bring cultural activities closer to the population – it will be held in open spaces in the community of Brisa de Bravo, municipality of Corregidora.
“This is the first time that it will not only take place in the facilities of Bravo Port el Arte, but also go into the community,” said Paula Mendes.
