FILIPINO INTERNATIONAL CINE FESTIVAL FACINE: opens call for entries

SAN FRANCISCO, California –  Filipino Arts and Cinema, International (FACINE) announces its call for entries to the 25th Annual Filipino International Cinema Festival to be held on October 19-21, 2018 at the Roxie Theater in San Francisco. Special programs will be scheduled outside of the festival proper which will be announced when confirmed.

The FACINE festival, which celebrates its Silver Anniversary this year, is the longest-running festival in North America that showcases new works by filmmakers of Filipino descent. As nonprofit media arts organization, FACINE aims to advocate for the interests of Filipino cinema, both from the Philippines and the Filipino diaspora.

This year, FACINE continues its Competition Section with awards to be given Best Film, Direction, Screenplay, Actor, Actress, Cinematography, Editing, Musical Score and Production Design to be chosen by a panel of jury. A separate competition for short films will select its Best Short Film and other special awards on the discretion of the jury.

If in a language other than English, all entries must be with English subtitles and shall be submitted in DVD or on-line. If on-line, send entries via Vimeo link or YouTube link to the address indicated: www.facine.org/call-for-entries

All entries by media artists of Filipino descent, regardless of number of entries, genre, subject and style, will be considered. Entries shall be no more than 120 minutes in length. Non-Filipino filmmakers may submit works however the subject must be on the Filipino. No submission fee. Entries in dvd format may be mailed to this address:

Michael V. signs anew with GMA 7

MULTITALENTED and award-winning actor, comedian and TV host Michael V. affirms his commitment with GMA Network, Inc. in a contract signing held last April 4.

Present in the contract signing were GMA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, GMA President and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr., GMA Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Felipe S. Yalong, GMA Entertainment Content Group Senior Vice President Lilybeth G. Rasonable, GMA Senior Assistant Vice President for Business Development Department II Janine Piad-Nacar, Senior Program Manager Bang Arespacochaga, Program Managers Cecille de Guzman, Mildred Natividad and Enri Calaycay and Bitoy’s wife and manager Carolina Bunagan.

Bitoy hosts the longest-running comedy gag show Bubble Gang and award-winning family sitcom PepitoManaloto. He is also the host of the celebrity competition Lip Sync Battle Philippines.

The Kapuso comedy genius, who has been a loyal Kapuso for more than two decades, revealed that he is happy to renew his contract with the Kapuso Network. “23 years naakosa GMA. He shared that he owes his success to all his fans and loyal Kapuso viewers who have been continuously supporting his shows. Bubble Gang is celebrating its 23rd anniversary this year while PepitoManaloto is now on its 9th year and Lip Sync Battle Philippines returns on its 3rd season.
