FILIPINO alumni of different United States (US) government-sponsored exchange programs from the Visayas will converge in Iloilo City for the “2018 Alumni Reconnects” Visayas leg.
Jarrah Brillantes, President of the US Government Alumni Association Panay and Guimaras Chapter, said this reunion and networking activity slated on August 17 at Casa Real here, is in line with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the US-Philippines exchanges.
“The purpose of the event is to gather alumni from the different US exchange programs and celebrate their successes,” she said.
She said some 80 alumni coming from Iloilo, Aklan, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Cebu, Leyte, and Samar have signed up to participate in the event.
According to Brillantes, this is an opportunity for alumni from the different programs to know alumni opportunities available for them and engage with alumni associations in the country.
On August 18, the US Embassy will also conduct a closed-door workshop for those who are shortlisted for the alumni small grants competition program.
“This is an effort by the US Embassy to encourage cooperation among alumni and share whatever they have learned from their exchanges,” she added. (JBG/LTP/PIA-Iloilo)
