THE Regional Statistics Committee – Region VI (RSC VI) will hold a one-day workshop on the Regional Statistical Development Program (RSDP) 2018-2023 on January 17, 2018 at Days Hotel in Iloilo City.
The activity would enable the RSC to gather and discuss relevant statistical issues and concerns in the region and to share good practices in coordinating the sub-national statistics system.
Outputs to be gathered from the workshop are the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) Analysis or situational assessment of local statistics development (Worksheet Form No. 1) and Matrix on Statistical Development Programs and Activities for 2018-2023 (Worksheet Form no. 2).
RSC VI, with the regional directors of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) acting as chairperson and vice-chairperson, respectively, is composed of Regional Line Government Agencies, representatives from provincial and city planning and development offices, as well as representatives from the private sector and schools, universities and colleges (SUCs)/academe in Western Visayas.
The workshop is in accordance with Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Resolution No. 5, s. 2015, which establishes the RSCs to address statistical requirements more effectively and to improve statistical coordination in the regions.
It is further stated in PSA Resolution No. 3, s. 2017 that the RSCs shall provide direction and guidance in the formulation of their respective Regional Statistical Development Programs (RSDPs) for setting directions, thrusts, and priorities of the regional statistical system and which shall form part of the Local Statistical Development chapter of the Philippine Statistical Development Program (PSDP) 2018-2023.
