THE Philippine Statistics (PSA)-Guimaras is now prepared for a quarterly Labor Force Survey (LFS) which will cover 10 identified sample-barangays with 12 Enumeration Areas (EAs) in the province on Jan 8-30, 2018.
The ten barangays are Daragan, Dagsaan and San Fernando in Buenavista; Alaguisoc, Hoskyn and San Miguel in Jordan; Aguilar and San Enrique in San Lorenzo; Canhawan in Nueva Valencia; and Ayangan in Sibunag.
Every barangay has one enumeration area except for San Miguel which has 3 EAs and among the presented barangays, 192 households were identified samples for the program.
The LFS activity is a nationwide quarterly survey for households to be conducted by the PSA to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population.
Moreover, it is stated in the user’s manual of LFS, that the importance of the program is to provide accurate information as basis for the formulation of policies and programs on creation and generation of gainful employment and livelihood opportunities; reduction of unemployment and underemployment; and enhancement of the welfare of a working person.
Meanwhile, the PSA- Guimaras explained that the said survey will help provide statistics on levels and trends of employment, unemployment and underemployment in the province and it is also used for the projection of future human resource, which when compared with the future manpower requirements and lastly will help identify employment and training needs.
