THE Philippine Statistics Authority-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office conducted a Consultative Forum and Appreciation of the 2018 CPBI Phase I – Comprehensive Updating of the List of Establishments (ULE) on April 30, 2018.
The half-day activity served as a venue for discussion and consultation with Local Government Units (LGUs), business registration offices, economic managers, business associations and the like regarding the conduct of ULE.
This aimed to formally inform them about the ULE, its objectives, and importance in the updating of sampling frames of PSA surveys, as well as to have an opportunity to consult them on the current business situation and existence of new business establishments in the area.
Moreover, the said consultative forum gave us the chance to discuss, gather feedback and recommendations directly from the stakeholders which can be considered in the formulation of strategy in the most effective way of interviewing the business establishments and encouraging them to provide reliable data for the success not only of the ULE but of the other PSA survey operations in the province.
Also, the result of the 2017 economic performance of Western Visayas was presented by Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida Losare for the participants to appreciate the importance of providing reliable data to PSA surveys as it is used to measure the economic growth of various sectors of our economy that are useful for planning and policy formulation.
The consultative forum ended with a responsive discussion from the LGU on how they monitor the existence of new establishments in their locality, how long is the processing of business permits and the presence of a database in the business licensing offices of LGUs.
The Provincial Tourism representative also suggested to the PSA to conduct a recorrida at the beginning of the survey for public information.
Meanwhile the PSA-Guimaras is presently conducting the 2018 Comprehensive Updating of the List of Establishments (ULE) or 2018 CPBI Phase 1 that started on April until July 2018.
The ULE is a preparatory activity that aims to provide an updated frame for the sample census to be conducted next year or the 2018 CPBI Phase 2.
