AS PART of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), the Petrowind Energy, Incorporated (PWEI) in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Provincial ENR Office (DENR-PENRO) Aklan and the Aklan ENR Office (AKENRO) conducted a forum on wildlife and forest protection program of the government recently at Brgy. Pawa, Nabas, Aklan.
PWEI is a renewable energy company sponsored by the PetroGreen Energy Corporation and EEI Corporation of the Yuchengco Group of Companies and by CAIF III. PWEI developed and constructed the 36 MW Nabas Wind Power Plant Project which is eligible for the Feed-in Tariff under the Renewable Energy Act of 2008 in the Philippines.
The event aims to raise awareness about the environment and natural resources within the local community, and to mobilize them in the preservation and protection of these resources by Republic Act No. 9147 or the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act, and PD 705, in their locality which is within the Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park.
“Taking care of the environment should start with educating people in the community. We commend our environmental partners in the business sector in collaborating with us and with the local government unit to help level up the environmental awareness of our grassroots communities,” said DENR 6 Regional Director Jim O Sampulna.
