Iloilo celebrates Independence Day in Sta. Barbara

The Iloilo provincial government will celebrate the 115th Independence Day in the historic town of Sta. Barbara, Iloilo today.
Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. said employees of the provincial government will have the early morning flag-raising ceremony together with the municipal employees of Sta. Barbara and other local officials to be followed by a short program.
Last year, the Capitol also celebration Independence Day in Sta. Barbara where the historic “Cry of Sta. Barbara” took place. Led by Gen. Martin T. Delgado, the Ilonggos fought for the independence from the Spanish colonizers.
On the other hand, the city government led by Iloilo City congressman Jerry P. Trenas and city mayor Jed Mabilog will lead the celebration at the Plaza Libertad, also a historic site in Iloilo City. (PNA)
