THE Iloilo City Cooperative Development Council (ICCDC) in partnership with Iloilo City Government Employees Credit Cooperative (ICGECC) spearheaded the Coop Month celebration in October 2017.
The opening program on Oct. 7 was graced by no less than National Cooperative Development Council chairperson, Prof. Samie M. Billanes.
The celebration aims to raise the consciousness of our people to join the cooperative movement and uphold the principles and values of cooperativism as declared through Presidential Proclamation No. 493, series of 2004.
ICCDC Chairman Carlito Jusa said coop leaders and members have attended activities anchored on this year’s theme, “Empowering the Poor and the Vulnerable Towards Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development.”
The Hataw Cooperatiba Zumba is set at Iloilo River Esplanade on October 14 at 6am spearheaded by Red Ladies Multi-Purpose Coop with awards Icon of the Year, Best in Fitness Outfit, and Top Participating Cooperative.
There will be Feeding Program on October 21 in the morning at barangays Bakhaw and Bolilao, Mandurriao sponsored by the office of Councilor Jay Treñas, chairman of City Council Committee on Cooperative and Livelihood.
Bowling tournament is also on October 21 in the afternoon at Gaisano City La Paz. There will be 3 participants per coop and winner will receive P3,000; second place with P2,000; and P1,000 consolation prize.
The Coop Whiz will be on October 28 at John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University Molo Covered Gym hosted by West Visayas State University (WVSU) Coop Management Department and WVSU Multi-Purpose Cooperative. Cash prizes and trophies will be given to winners. (Iloilo City PIO)
