SAN JOSE, Antique – The Province of Antique is all set for the 39th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week on July 17-23, 2017 spearheaded by the Provincial Offices of Disability Affairs Office and Social Welfare and Development.
This year’s celebration goes for the theme “Karapatan at Prebelehiyo ng may Kapansanan Isakatuparan at Ipaglaban”
PSWDO Lazaro Petinglay said the event will also feature the Social Week Celebration which is supposed to be on June as stated in a Provincial Ordinance however, it was decided to celebrate it with NDPR Week featuring activities advocating programs and services of the social sector, persons with disabilities included.
The Social Work Week also features ASEAN as highlighted in the theme “ASEAN Convergence on Social Work, Social Welfare and Development Initiatives,” said Petinglay.
The joint celebration will kick-off on Monday July 17 with an exhibit of programs, services, photo documentation and products of various groups included in the social sector at the three strategic locations the New Capitol Lobby where programs and services of the national government agencies will be put up, then at the Old Capitol for the offices of the Provincial Government including the Office of the Vice Governor.
The programs and services for persons with disabilities including their products will be displayed at the Activity Center of Robinsons Place San Jose.
PIA Antique likewise will install an Information Kiosk on ASEAN at the New Capitol Building starting July 17-21, 2017.
The one-week event also includes Media Advocacy/ Press Conference on July 17 in the afternoon at the PSCB Building, DSWD Compound, San Jose while on July 18 there will be Social Work Forum at Femos Centrosphere, Atabay, San Jose. The forum will feature a briefing on basic information about ASEAN and other topics relevant to social work which will be attended by Social Workers all throughout the province.
On July 19, there will be a Provincial Convergence Committee Meeting to be spearheaded by DSWD at the Venue, San Fernando, San Jose.
The NDPR week program will be on July 20 to include a parade from EBJ Freedom Park to EBJ Gymnasium and be joined by various agencies, non-government organizations, local officials and other groups supporting the PWD sector.
