Children in the US can be vaccinated as early as 2022
Sunday said American children under 1222 were “most likely” vaccinated by White House adviser Anthony Fauci in early 2022.
Currently, none of the three vaccines licensed in the United States (Pfizer / BioNTech, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson) are available to children under 16 years of age.
But Fauci told NBC that some companies have already started studying to reduce this age.
“You don’t want to go from 12 years to six months at a time, you start from 12 years to 9 years, then from 9 years to six, from six years to two years.”
Given the progress of these studies, immunologists – widely respected in the United States – estimate that children under 12 will be vaccinated as soon as possible, at the end of the year.
“And most likely, in the first quarter of 2022,” he said.
Childhood vaccination is a major issue in the US, as it can reduce the burden on millions of parents whose children continue to receive distance education.
Conditions vary greatly according to the nature of the region and schools (public, private, religious), and there is a power struggle between institutions and teachers to reopen the institutions.
High school students should be able to vaccinate “this fall”, Fauci said.
