BORACAY ISLAND, Aklan – The plan to increase their respective accommodation packages is a prerogative of Boracay stakeholders, says the general manager of the Aklan Electric Cooperative (AKELCO).
“It is entirely up to the resort owners themselves to increase their prices. On our part, it is difficult for us to apply for the tourism rates at the Energy Regulatory Board because of the rigid process,” said AKELCO manager Chito Peralta.
Reports said that resort owners here were planning to increase their respective room rates to as much as 10 percent to cope with the increasing electricity rates offered by AKELCO, the lone power distributor in the province.
Peralta said that AKELCO power rates are still competitive with that of nearby Roxas City and Antique provinces.
