The Research Center in Applied Mathematics (CIMA) of the Autonomous University of Coahuila (UAdeC) invites graduates at the bachelor’s level related to the fields of applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering, representation, economics or management to enter the Master’s in Data Science and Optimization in the August-December semester 2021. At a press conference, CIMA Director, Irma Delia García Calvillo, announced that this graduate program aims to train high-quality human resources with a broad ethical sense capable of analyzing, organizing and modeling data largely generated from operations carried out in the fields of science. and engineering, by learning and applying mathematical, optimization, and computational models and techniques.
“Our master’s degree is research-focused and is interdisciplinary, therefore it aims to create projects that allow an effective solution to decision-making problems that lead to an impact on regional and national development; the study plan consists of 14 subjects: five of formative type, five of interdisciplinary, and four ad hoc To work on the thesis project.
Ultimately, García Calvillo emphasized, graduates will be able to effectively advise on the design and implementation of projects, in which the application of statistics, financial mathematics, algorithms, data mining, machine learning, and risk optimization are integrated. in the production and services sector.
For her part, the Postgraduate Coordinator, Jajira Cardona Valdes, stated that the study program is designed to be completed within two years with the possibility of extending the semester, according to the needs of each student; He added that four subjects can be taken in each semester, at a cost of 2,000 pesos each, which can be paid with the semester enrollment of 2,000 pesos.
Cardona Valdes stated, that in this semester, the master’s degree will be taught in a hybrid and flexible format, so online classes are created Monday through Friday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and some Saturdays face to face at CIMA; Similarly, he clarified that the first phase of the admission process for the MSc in Data Science and Optimization will be from July 5-30, with registration and submission of documents entirely online through the page: www.cima.uadec.mx.
