GUIMARAS provincial agri-fishery council chairperson Ramon Marañon reiterated to continue to yearn for value-adding activities for high value commodities.
“Pareho niyo man sang una, ako naga-yearn gid sang mga trainings nga pareho sini. Biskan ano nga trainings or seminar nga ginapatawag sang Department of Agriculture (DA) kag ang iya ka Province of Guimaras, always gina zero in ko gid ang akon nga knowledge,” Marañon said
40 participants attended the training for value-adding with packaging and labelling of selected high value commoditieson October 4-5, 2018, at the Alobijod Cove, Alubihud Beach Road, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras.
The said training aims for the participants to learn the importance and marketing potentials of high value commodities available in their backyards and to acquire the skills on how to process these commodities into different forms.
Further, in the training the attendees were given the opportunity to have a hands-on activity of the selected high value commodities such as mango, banana and cassava inspired products.
DA funded the training to give opportunity to the participants to be technically equipped with the possibilities to undergo such activity, and will be given the chance to provide their children with economical yet nutritious food.
The selected participants were the Rural Improvement Club (RIC) members, young farmers, indigenous people and the Guimaras State College (Baterna Campus) graduates of Agriculture degree.
Meanwhile, one of the participants, Ms.Annalyn Gerangca of San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras, expressed her gratitude to the facilitators of the said activity.
“Nagapasalamat gid ko sa nag-facilitate sang sini nga training kay ini makabulig gid sa akon kag sa akon man pamilya. Kag matudlo ko man ini sa akon nga mga pareho nga nanay sa amon komunidad, ilabi na gid sa mga pigado nga interesado sa sini nga activity,” she said.
