AS PARENTS and students prepare for the school year 2018-2019, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is partnering with various retailers to offer school supplies at discounted prices of up to 70 percent.
DTI-6 information officer David Sinay said this year’s Balik Eskwela Diskwento in Iloilo will be held in stores to make it accessible to the buying public. In previous years, DTI conducted the activity at the hallway of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
The schedule for Iloilo will be on May 28 to June 10.
“If they conduct it in their establishment, they need not transfer the supplies to another area,” he said.
Partner stores will be posting the Balik Eskwela Diskwento streamers and posters.
“Discount is from 5 to 70 percent. They only have to look for stores which contain our posters,” he said.
Supplies that will be sold include writing pads, notebooks, pencils, ballpoint pens, crayons, bond papers, bags, and uniforms. These supplies follow the Standard Retail Price (SRP) set by DTI.
Sinay said they have yet to have the exact number of retailers that will participate as their campaign still continues. He urged more enterprise owners to support their program.
The Balik Eskwela Diskwento program for the provinces of Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental already kicked off on the second week of May.
