Tesda eyes 4,000 skilled workers from Capiz

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Technical Education Skills Development Authority (Tesda) in Capiz is hiring some 4,000 skilled workers for the “Build, Build, Build” Program.

Two on-the-spot hiring activities were held on Feb 9 and 10, 2019 in the towns of Mambusao and Dumalag, respectively, where hundreds of skilled workers were hired.

The “Build, Build, Build” Program is a priority agenda of President Rodrigo Duterte. It aims to accelerate infrastructure and the development of industries that will yield robust growth across the archipelago, create jobs and uplift the lives of Filipinos.

According to Engr. Abdel Hajan, TESDA provincial director, the skilled workers are composed of carpentry, masons, tiles installers, electricians, painters, among others.

He said the 1,000 persons who underwent training in the construction sector last year will be issued with National Certificate ll and will be hired directly.

The Jobs Bridging for the “Build, Build, Build” program is in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Public Employment Service Offices and Local Government Units in Capiz.

Hajan said the hired applicants will go to Manila to work for a leading construction firm that is undertaking major infrastructure projects in the National Capital Region.

The firm will provide the medical check-up, transportation expenses, free board and lodging and benefits such as PhilHealth and Social Security System (SSS).
