SAN JOSE, Antique April 8 (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) enjoined the business community to support the 2018 Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI).
The CPBI is undertaken every five years to collect and generate information on the levels, structure, performance and trends of economic activities of the formal sector of the economy.
Provincial Statistics Officer Jesus F. Escote, Jr., urged the owners, managers, respondents of sample establishments to give correct and accurate information during the survey as well as the local officials who are important in success of this undertaking.
He likewise assured the confidentiality of the data and information collected.
The census will collect and generate information on employment, revenue, expense, capital expenditures and total assets of the establishments.
It will also generate indicators such as value added, labor productivity, profitability and other indicators which are necessary for the evaluation of the performance of industries at the national and regional levels.
The results of the CPBI serve as benchmark information in the measurement of national and regional economic growth.
Data to be collected from the CPBI will constitute bases upon which the government and the private sector can formulate policies and programs geared towards economic development, said Escote.
The census will also generate information on MSMEs (micro, small, and medium establishments /enterprises) and update basic information of establishments and enterprise for the improvement of the Statistical Business Register (SBR).
The survey started April 3 to July 31, 2019 to cover more than 150 sample establishments provincewide. (LTP/PSA/PIA-Antique)
